Amazing Facts About UNESCO Heritage-Kalka Shimla Railway

The historic 111years old Shimla- Kalka Railway became UNESCO world heritage on 7th July, 2008

The Kalka- Shimla Railway records  “The Guinness Book of Rail facts & feats” as the greatest narrow gauge engineering in India.

The Kalka- Shimla Railway track has 103 tunnels from which The Barog tunnel is the longest one and 800 bridges.

The journey from Kalka to Shimla covers the 18 beautiful railway stations. Every station is  well maintained with tea and snack shops.

The Kalka-Shimla journey is 96 km long. The train runs at the speed of 22km/hour and known as the 'Toy Train '.
